SEO Fellowship Payments

SEO fellowships are disbursed a few different ways: a) as a monthly stipend check, b) as a Student Assistant Researcher with an hourly (time-sheet) paycheck, or c) as a Graduate Assistant with a monthly, salaried paycheck.

For U-RISE, Bridges, CDI, and STC CCC Scholars: Stipend checks are disbursed on the 15th of each month. With COVID-19 restrictions, we encourage you to sign up for direct deposit, otherwise the check will be mailed to you on the 15th of each month. If the 15th of the month falls on a weekend, then the checks are usually available on the prior Friday afternoon.

For Genentech Scholars: The Genentech Foundation Scholarships are just starting to allow direct deposit for stipend checks. Ask Alyssa for details about how to sign-up for this. Otherwise, the checks will be mailed to your last known address during the first or second week of each month.

SF State Part-time, Seasonal and Temporary Employees Retirement Program (PST)

If you were ever hired as a Graduate Assistant or a Student Assistant Researcher, you were a "temporary CSU employee" who was excluded from coverage under CalPERS. You were automatically enrolled in the PST Program. This applies to student assistant researchers and graduate assistants when you are not enrolled in classes at least 50% time or more (January, June, July and August). Savings Plus administers the program. The program deducts a portion of your wages and deposits it in an account for you. It is set up as a 457(b) retirement savings plan.
