For students majoring in Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry.
Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round, but the Summer/Fall 2022 deadline has past. After the application deadline is over and throughout the year, you can complete an Applicant Profile. If you submit a profile, we will let you know if any new scholarships or fellowships open outside of our regular spring application deadline.
Purpose: To prepare students from underrepresented groups, first generation college students, and students with disabilities for biomedical careers by providing academic support and a stimulating research experience. The goal of the program is to prepare each participant for entrance into a competitive graduate program and successful completion of a PhD in the biomedical sciences or an MD, DDS and DVM degree.
Year 1 total scholarship = $4,700
- Summer Bridge for 8 weeks (Students receive $2,000) before starting freshman year:
During the summer before Freshman year, students take
- Pre-calculus (Math 199)
- Preparation for College Chemistry (Chem 100)
During the academic year (September to May) scholars receive $300/month stipend to particpate in research activities
Year 2 total scholarship = $5,700
Must be a SF State student (or currently applying to become one)
Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, DACA, or AB540
Must commit to research for one year or more
